Labrador West Child Care Inc. was incorporated in 2011 by a group of Labrador West citizens who recognized the need for dependable and affordable childcare in the region. We’ve since opened two child care centres offering various options of care for children ages 18 months to 12 years old.

Mission + Vision

Labrador West Child Care inc. (LWCC inc.) exists to provide a safe, developmentally appropriate, environment for preschool and school age children. Our focus is to provide a stimulating early care and education experience, which promotes each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.

We believe that every child is special and unique, and our goal is to support the child’s desire to be lifelong learners and ensure activities are based on the interest of the children.

Our goal is to be the number one childcare resource in the region that employs the best our industry has to offer while offering our services to the most children. We are government subsidized and follow all guidelines and policies set forth by the Department of Education for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Statement of Philosophy

LWCC INC. will aspire to provide quality care in a happy, healthy, stimulating and culturally appropriate environment for children 3 to 13 years of age.

Programming is based on the interests and needs of the children, as well as their surroundings. Children are offered a program of activities that foster their physical, intellectual, cognitive, emotional and social development. This is accomplished by providing a variety of activities that recognizes each child’s self-concept, self-esteem and creativity. Staff will provide opportunities for children to be actively engaged in the learning process. They will have opportunities to explore, learn and grow from their physical environment, each other and ECE’s.

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to work with staff to help support and overall development of their child. Open communication between staff and parents/guardians is recommended and encourage.

At present Labrador West Child Care operates the only two regulated, board-run child care centres in the Labrador West region.

Organization

LWCC INC. is a non-profit organization, run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Each centre has an Administrator who is responsible for managing operations. Through the Administrator, the LWCC INC. board will be involved in overseeing the operations of the centre.

The Program adheres to the Policies set down “Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Child Care Policy Standards Manual”.
