Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not listed to the right, please feel free to send a message to one of our centers for clarification.
Do we have to bring lunches/snacks?
For children enrolled in Building Blocks Child Care Centre, you do NOT have to provide meals or snacks. Healthy snacks and lunches are provided and prepared fresh each day. Every month we send our meal plan home so parents know exactly what children are eating during the day.
For children enrolled in Lab West Child Care Centre, you WILL have to provide a lunch from home. Healthy snacks are prepared and provided twice a day and there are microwaves in each homeroom to warm up lunches, if needed. Our snack menu is posted at the entrance and available in each homeroom.
How long is the waitlist and how does it work?
As regulated child care centres in Labrador City and Wabush, our waitlists are quite extensive. Enrolment depends on the age of your child, not necessarily their number on the waitlist. Our homerooms are licensed by specific age ranges and children are transitioned internally first. The waitlist is consulted when spaces become available and then selected based on the age range required for the homeroom. Currently LWC has over 400 and BB has over 200 children on the waitlist.
Do you offer childcare during the summer?
Yes, children that are currently enrolled in our service will have full time child care year round. For school aged children this means during Christmas and Easter breaks as well as during summer. There is an additional fee for full time care for school aged children.
How much does it cost?
Full time care is $10 per day. The part time preschool program is $150 per semester. Each semester is approximately 12 weeks.
